桂島貝塚（かつらしまかいづか）

浦戸地区に分布する37所の貝塚のうち、 船入島貝塚と並んでその原形を示す貝塚です。 所在地は桂島の浦戸第二小学校の近くで、 出土物 （縄文土器、 石器、 骨角器） により、 縄文前期から中期のものと推定されています。 昭和44年９月18日指定

Katsura island shell mound

DESCRIPTION

37 shell mounds are distributed over Urato district. The Kastura island shell mound as well as the Funairi island shell mound show the original form. It’s located near Urato second elementary school. Studies of the earthenware, such as straw-rope patterned potteries and stone, bone and horn implements, have produced estimates that the mound was built from the early to the mid Jomon period.
Designated on September 18th, 44th year of Showa (1969).
