十二支方角石（じゅうにしほうがくせき）

塩竈市指定・有形文化財
寒風沢の日和山にあるこの方角石は、 十二支が刻まれた円柱形をなし、 直径45㎝、 高さ82.5㎝と他所に類をみない堂々としたものです。 奉献者が一般の船頭、 廻船問屋とは異なり幕府より差遣された役人 （木村又兵衛正信） であることも珍しいと言われます。

The twelve animal zodiac Direction Stone

DESCRIPTION

There is a “Direction Stone” located on Hiyori mountain in Sabusawa. This stone is distinguished by its cylindrical shape (diameter of 45cm, height 82.5 cm), and engraved with the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. This stone was dedicated by Matabe Masanobu Kimura (Matabee-Masanobu Kimura), a delegate from the Tokugawa shogunate. This is very unusual, as usually the dedication was performed by ordinary people such as a boatman or a shipping agent.
Designated on February 1, 62nd year of Showa (1987)
