雨降石（あめふりいし）

笠かさの形状けいじょうをしており、相州雨降山石尊権現そうしゅうあめふりやませきそんごんげんを祀まつるとの伝承でんしょうがある。島内とうないの農耕のうこうが全まったく天水てんすいに依存いぞんしていたため、この石いしに向むかって雨乞あまごいをした。この場所ばしょは、航海こうかいの日和見ひよりみをした所ところでもあった。

Amefuri ishi (stone)

DESCRIPTION

It has the shape of a hat, and there is a legend that it enshrines Soshu Amefuriyama Sekison Gongen. Since farming on the island relies entirely on rainwater, people prayed for rain toward this stone. This place was also an opportunistic place to sail.
